Valentine's Heart Pillow

Valentine's day is on its way! A few years ago I made this heart shaped pillow for my husband. I didn't use any sort of pattern and I'm not the greatest at sewing, but I wanted to make him something unique and meaningful to him.

I used one of my favorite fabrics and cut it into a heart shape. On one side I cut open a square panel and sewed in a piece of Aida cloth.

 I cross stitched the words to "I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden. This is "our song" because we met online and fell in love before we actually ever met in person.

Here is a closeup of the stitching and beads that I sewed into the fabric.

It's been a few years and a few kids since I made this pillow...the shape is starting to look a little squished. It's the first thing I ever made for my husband...the first thing like this anyone has ever made for him. It's those small meaningful gifts that make the holiday special...taking the time to show someone you care! :)

Welcome and an Easy Table Vignette

Hello! Welcome to my blog! My name is Kara and have been blessed with a wonderful husband and a house full of boys.
I have always loved to rearrange the furniture, create vignettes, and decorate. I am by no means a professional...I just like to play around with my decor and have fun! I love to shop at thrift stores and also try to re-purpose things that I find so that they can have a new life. I hope that you will join me on my adventures decorating, thrifting and re-purposing! I found this cute little copper lantern at Goodwill for $2

The tea set was purchased at a variety type store called The Emporium. It has 4 cups with it and was only $5 for the whole set! I love the glazing they used on this...so much texture!

This heavy wooden tray was also a Goodwill find for about $3

For texture I first placed a bamboo floor mat on the table then layered it with this lovely homemade scarf that my sister crocheted for me. I thought it looked so soft and fluffy, I couldn't resist using it in my vignette!
